Description
The New York Court of Appeals was the best-regarded state court in the United States during Benjamin Cardozo’s tenure as its chief justice (his decision of Palsgraf v. Long Island Railroad Co. is still taught in torts classes today). Cardozo also developed a reputation as a top jurisprudential scholar. Several of his lectures were published as treatises that were hailed on both sides of the Atlantic: The Nature of the Judicial Process, The Growth of the Law, and The Paradoxes of Legal Science. After a nomination from Herbert Hoover, Benjamin Cardozo served as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court between 1932 and 1938. This book, signed by Cardozo, is a collection of his essays and addresses.
