Description
Sonia Sotomayor served as Assistant District Attorney in New York County and as an attorney in the Manhattan firm of Pavia & Harcourt before being nominated to the U.S. District Court, Southern District of New York. After eleven years on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, President Barack Obama appointed Sotomayor as Associate Supreme Court Justice in 2009. She is notably the first Latina and third woman to be named to the Court. Her book for young readers shares Justice Sotomayor’s story and the power of books. In a visit to the Today Show, she expressed hope that the book would inspire children to follow their dreams, because “it’s kids who have a chance of doing things better than we have.” Sotomayor published the book in English and Spanish.
