Description

Trentacinque, Alessandro. De Substitutionibus Tractatus. Venetiis: Ex Officina Damiani Zenarij, 1588.

Alessandro Trentacinque (d. 1599) was an Italian jurist and patrician. He held the position of mayor in L’Aquila, Italy towards the end of the 16th century, as well as the title of Camerlengo. His tract discusses Roman law, specifically the substitution of heirs. He explores the legality behind appointing proxy-heirs in the event that an original heir is unable to perform his duties adequately. Although Trentacinque’s work seems large and extensive, it represents only a small part of the very complicated system of the Roman laws of succession.
