Description

I had never found an on line grading system that worked for both myself and the students. Pre-pandemic, I wrote handwritten comments on each paper and distributed a separate grading rubric with my individual comments at the end. Last March when I had to scan in 45 papers I realized that my method was no longer viable. However, I still wanted to be able to replicate online what I had been doing by hand. In this presentation, I will demonstrate how Notability enables you to download student work into the app, "handwrite" comments using the Apple pencil, and also insert and edit text. Students subsequently receive a PDF of their graded work with both the handwritten and typed comments. This system enables me to give feedback that is identical to what I gave before the pandemic without touching any actual paper. The entire process feels faster, smoother and easier and students seem to love it.
