Description

Pettus, Sir John. The Constitution of Parliaments in England, Deduced from the time of King Edward the Second. London: Printed for the Author, 1680.

In this work, Sir John Pettus (c.1613–1685) briefly describes the history of Parliament before focusing on the more specific nature of Parliament since the Restoration. A confirmed royalist, Pettus may have intended the work to support James II in his increasingly strained relationship with the House of Commons. Only two issues of the 1680 edition were published.
