This book, written by Virginian Mary Johnston, was one of the bestselling fiction books of 1902. Its publication followed that of Johnston's best remembered work, To Have and To Hold (1900). Johnston was a suffragist and imparted feminist ideals into her novels. Audrey is one of several novels that Johnston set in colonial Virginia.
