<p>An unauthorized but updated edition of <em>The Lawes of Virginia Now in Force</em>, often referred to as "Purvis" so named for its supposed undertaker the ship captain <strong>John Purvis</strong>. Even though the General Assembly suppressed it, it remained in use well into the eighteenth century. This copy is on loan from the Library of Virginia.</p>
