WILLIAMSBURG -- William B. Spong, dean of the Marshall-Wythe School of Law at the College of William and Mary, will leave Friday for Austria to participate in a law seminar for distinguished jurists.

He will be a member of the law faculty on American Law and Legal Institutions at the Salzburg Seminar in American Studies July 8-27.

The faculty includes William H. Rehnquist, associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court; Gerhard Casper, professor at the University of Chicago law school; James O. Freedman, associate provost and professor at the University of Pennsylvania law school; Theodore J. St. Antonine, professor and former dean at the University of Michigan law school, and Spong.

The three-week course will include a series of lectures by each faculty member and informal group meetings with about 50 foreign lawyers who have been selected to attend. Spong will lecture on the American legal system.
