<p><strong>Joseph Chitty</strong> (1776-1841) was a prolific legal scholar and prominent educator. He organized lectures and moots in London, taught a number of influential lawyers, and published a variety of legal treatises. This supplement builds upon <em>A Practical Treatise on Pleading</em> (1809), a later edition of which you can <a href="https://scholarship.law.wm.edu/exhibit/harris-collection/chittys-pleading/"><span style="color:#115740;"><strong>view in this exhibit.</strong></span></a> It discusses action in assumpsit, various forms that are commonly the subject of litigation, and precedents of practical utility.</p>
